Pair of Antique Mahogany Carver Chairs, circa 1900
This fine pair of antique mahogany carver chairs dates to around 1900 and showcases beautifully executed craftsmanship in the late Regency or early Victorian style. Constructed from solid mahogany, these chairs feature elegant, sweeping arms and richly carved backrests that enhance their classic form.
The top rails are adorned with intricate scrollwork and rope twist detailing, complemented by pierced and carved mid-rails with flowing foliage motifs. The arms are gracefully curved and supported by turned uprights, adding both comfort and character to the design. The front legs are gently tapered with a slight sabre curve, while the rear legs are swept back in typical Regency fashion.
Both chairs retain their original proportions and present a sturdy and attractive silhouette. The drop-in seats are upholstered in a soft damask fabric with subtle floral patterns, offering comfort while remaining sympathetic to the period aesthetic.
These chairs would make an excellent addition to a formal dining setting, hallway, or study, offering both decorative appeal and functional seating. They are in very good antique condition with minor signs of age-appropriate wear and a rich, polished finish that highlights the grain and tone of the mahogany.
A striking and refined pair, perfect for those looking to introduce classic charm and quality to their interior.
