A fine 19th century French mahogany occasional table of oval form, c.1880, richly embellished with floral marquetry inlay and mounted with finely cast gilt bronze ormolu in the Louis XVI taste. Elegant and delicately proportioned, this piece combines refined craftsmanship with classical decorative motifs, perfect for use as a lamp table, side table, or accent piece in a sophisticated interior.
The shaped brass-bound top features a central marquetry bouquet of flowers, surrounded by satinwood stringing and rosewood banding, set within a scrolled border. Below, a frieze drawer is adorned with finely detailed gilt mouldings and set between cabriole legs headed with striking rams’ head mounts and terminating in ornate sabots.
